Tips, Caveats & Known Issues
Most documents in the DCL are MS Word files. The DCL is housed in Google Apps. So you are viewing MS Word files in a Google document viewer. The DCL document viewer is good for just that: viewing. If you need to print the document, or if you need to own a personal copy, click the ‘Download’ button. That should open the document in MS Word, or give you the option to download.- Some MS Word documents will misbehave. If you get the ‘Sorry, we are unable to generate a view of the document at this time’ message, or if the document fails to properly display, try these fixes:
- ‘Refresh’ your browser (F5). Maybe even ‘hard’ refresh (Ctrl-F5). Explanation.
- ‘Download’ to view the file in MS Word. (And please use the feedback form to let us know which file failed to open!)
- Google does Cloud computing as well (or better) than anyone. And Cloud computing is where the world is doing business these days. However, the Cloud is new, it sometimes gets stormy, and it is still under construction. Not every feature will work as designed 100% of the time.
