Discover DISCUS
DISCUS is an amazing collection of resources. History, health, literature,
controversial issues, biographies, and more can be found on DISCUS.
Mrs. Tighe taught Mrs. Lipsey’s classes how to access DISCUS and explained why it is a better resource than results on Google. Her classes are focusing on medieval times and will be reading literature from that time period.

Section of the Week - War and Weapons
Students in JROTC will be interested in
this section for the guides and history. Others of you may be interested in the types of weapons or armor used during different time periods. If you want to read more about arms, armor, war, and weapons, look for the books in the 355 - 359.9 section. Titles include:
Army Officer’s Guide
Medieval World of Warfare and Weapons
My Hero: Military Kids Write About Their Moms and Dads
Going to War in (a series of books; each book covers a different time period)
Spies
Black, White, and Olive Drab: Racial Integration at Fort Jackson
Pick Your Beat
Thank you to all of those who showed up for the Book Club last Friday. We had a great discussion about books and talked about starring books of exceptional quality.
The theme for Teen Read Week is Books With Beat. Teen Read Week takes place from October 17 - 23. Students can pick their favorite books with beat, put them in a special area in the library, and get a sign saying that section is THEIR section! Anna adopted poetry, and Maggie adopted medicine, but there are more Beat ideas:
music
crime
health
sports
Adopt one of these “beat” areas or come up with your own! Let the library staff know if you are interested in adopting a section for Teen Read Week.
