I saw this on Free Technology for Teachers.  Shmoop (online study guide site) is running a poetry contest for high school students.  Read the poem “Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening” by Robert Frost and answer the question posted on  http://bit.ly/bxRh94.  Deadline is May 28th.

You can win an IPod at Open Mic Night at the Showroom.  Be there on April 22nd from 6:00-9:30.  The cost for attending is $5.00 for students and $10.00 for adults.  Want to participate in Open Mic Night?  Contact L. Hurley at 562-4199.

While you are in the media center, check out a Playaway.  Playaways are devices that let you listen to a book without needing a CD player - the controls are on the Playaway.

 The SHS Library is hosting a contest for Teen Tech Week.  Submissions are due by 3:00 on March 18th.  Submissions may be printed or given as a website link.

Use a Web2.0 site (examples: Wordle, Flickr, Wikispaces) to create one of the following:

• A how-to guide on how to research.
• A how-to guide on how to take notes.
• Promote the SHS Library. Advertise our hours, services, available resources - think outside the box.
• Promote reading.

 Submissions will be judged by a group of staff members.  Winners will be announced March 24th.

Prizes:

1st place - $50 Best Buy gift card, MP3 player, flash drive, and other cool stuff
2nd place - $30 Best Buy gift card
3rd place - $15 Best Buy gift card
